Some things are getting scratched off our list. Last Sunday we got asparagus in- all eight crowns. So no lonely asparagus here, Carol. We also got in the peas, white and yellow onion sets, carrots, radishes and beets. We also planted two other veggies we’ve never grown- turnips and kohlrabi. It will be fun discovering new recipes to highlight those. I do like turnip cake, in a non-dessert sense, that a Taiwanese friend used to make, so we might give that a try. Meanwhile, inside the house, the peppers, tomatoes, and brussel sprouts are still plugging along.
This evening we also got to working on a pallet project. That will be a later post though. As we were removing some of the wood boards a neighbor came by. This kind gardener brought some mums to share, and we hope to offer some yellow pear tomato plants in return. We let him know that we are hoping to find a certain vegetable plant this weekend at the Expo/Plant sale. What is this mystery veggie? It’s a beauty to behold, but has a side effect I’m told.
